KiDS+VIKING-450 catalogues

The KiDS+VIKING-450 (KV450) catalogues presented here and described in detail in Wright et al. (2018), are based on the KiDS-450 Weak Lensing catalogs, with the addition of NIR data from the VIKING survey. Apart from the optical-only photometric redshifts (column Z_B_ugri), there are now also photo-z's based on the 9-band photometry (column Z_B).
The KV-450 catalogues cover a slightly smaller area, because some parts of the KiDS-450 region does not have VIKING data.

The catalogues made available for download contain only 'good' sources, meaning that masks and selection criteria have already been applied (see the release notes for the KiDS-450 Weak Lensing catalogs for details). Note: the only mask not applied to the catalogue, is the 9-band mask. If you use the 9-band photo-z, you should only use galaxies with 9-band imaging by requiring GAAP_Flag_ugriZYJHKs==0 This reduces the KV450 area by ~5%. This is the only "mask" that needs to be applied to the data.

Paper

A detailed description of the creation of these catalogues can be found in Wright et al. (2018, A&A, submitted, arXiv:1812.06077)

Catalog download

Below are direct links to the KV-450 lensing catalogs, stored on the OmegaCEN data servers. The catalogs are in LDAC-FITS format which can be queried using all standard FITS tools, and LDAC tools.

We are keen for the community to make full use this data product, so do not hesitate to contact Angus Wright, Hendrik Hildebrandt, Catherine Heymans or Konrad Kuijken if you have any questions about the lensing catalogues.
