KiDS DR3 data access

The publicly released KiDS data products are stored in two archives: the ESO Science Archive and the Astro-WISE archive. The data products have been created using the Astro-WISE system aided by additional software for source detection (KIDSCAT/SExtractor), masking (Pulecenella) and photo-z derivation (BPZ). Subsequently, the data have been exported to obtain the format requested by ESO.
It is important to realize there are some differences between the data files that can be retrieved via ESO and via Astro-WISE, but that these differences are only between the meta-data.

ESO Science Archive

The science products (calibrated, stacked images, single-band source lists, and catalogs) stored in the ESO Science Archive can be easily accessed through the Phase 3 query interface:

ESO Phase 3 main query form: KiDS

* The KiDS DR3 catalog is listed as catalog version 2

Astro-WISE

The calibrated, stacked images, weight frames, masks, and single-band source lists can be easily accessed through the DBviewer, the main data query tool in Astro-WISE. It provides access to the data products and their metadata. The latter includes data lineage, i.e., the tree of data products and process configurations that went into creating it. Below we provide links to the DBviewer result pages of queries for KiDS-ESO-DR3 data products. These result pages list the available data products with columns providing different types of information, including links to Quality-WISE (provides inspection plots and quality info), links to data lineage information ("object view") and links to the FITS files.

Batch download

Batch download of all data products (calibrated, stacked images, weight frames, masks, single-band source lists, and multi-band catalogs), in the same format as available via the ESO Science archive (but stored on the Astro-WISE data servers), is possible using wget. The wget input files are linked below. Where available, the md5sums files can be used to verify your downloaded files with the command "md5sum -c kids_*_md5sums.txt".

Synoptic table

Combining quality information and inspection plots with download links for individual data files, the synoptic table provides a comprehensive overview of and access to the data release. There are two separate pages/tables, one for the 292 newly release survey tiles and one for the multi-band catalog.
